Rural Economy and Land Use Programme - Data Support Service
The Data Support Service (Relu-DSS) helps researchers of the Rural Economy and Land Use programme to manage their
data throughout the research lifecycle to ensure that data can be archived and shared with the wider research
community when projects end. Relu-DSS provides data management guidance, reviews data management plans and
oversees the archiving of interdisciplinary data collections from Relu projects at the UK Data Archive
and the Environmental Information Data Centre. The Relu Knowledge Portal provides access to research data,
publications and outputs from all Relu projects.
The Relu programme is an interdisciplinary research
programme, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
and the Natural Environment Research Council, with additional funding from the Scottish Government and the
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Teams of social and environmental scientists study contemporary challenges that face
rural areas in Britain, such as sustainabale food chains, animal and plant diseases, climate change and land and water management.
The programme's data management policy encourages
good data practices amongst researchers and makes sure that data are made available for archiving and sharing with the
wider research community. Researchers develop a data management plan.
