Support for Relu award holders
The Relu Data Support Service (Relu-DSS) helps researchers prepare their data management plans, reviews those plans and gives
advice where needed. Relu-DSS supports researchers with data management through online
data management guidelines developed on the UK Data Archive website, regular training workshops and project visits to
discuss project-specific data management.
Under the Relu data policy, award holders are required to:
- prepare a data management plan at the start of a research project
- follow professional codes of conduct in research, especially regarding ethical issues
- properly manage research data during research
- offer datasets and accompanying metadata resulting from a Relu project to the UK Data Archive for
archiving, within three months of project completion
The Relu Data Support Service helps researchers through:
- review of data management plans with advice given where needed
- detailed data management guidelines for Relu researchers
- training workshops on key data sharing issues
like research ethics, data confidentiality, data protection and copyright
- project visits to discuss data management with each team of resaerchers
- negotiating access to existing data resources
- processing deposited Relu datasets for long-term preservation at the UK Data Archive and the Environmental
Information Data Centre
